By Gabor Komar - Even though the interface looks very simple, this is a quite nice editor with lots of cool features like mirror, rotate, turn, etc... also has ability to load more than 1 char set at a time. Easy to use.

1x1 Font Editor v1.0 presented by Avantgarde - Although it has a crude interface, it is actually quite advanced in features and works well.  

Don't have any info on this program, but it is quite easy to use and has some built-in help.

64 Charsets by Mace of View, released on Feb. 26th, 1989 - Figured I'd add another program today that is basically a bunch of character sets that you can rip from memory and use in your own programs. I only took screenshots of the first few sets.  Unlike the other program "99 Charsets +" there isn't an easy way to save the characters to disk, so happy hacking.  This one is also PAL only but the character sets will still work fine for NTSC.

8x8 Charmaker by Scroll of Megastyle - Great for making those BIG LETTERS!

99 Charsets + is a handy utility that lets you browse through various character sets and save the one you like out to a file at hex location #2000 for use in your own programs.  This doesn't really fit in a particular category so I'll throw it in with character / font editors.  This is a PAL based C64 program.

C.C.WRITER is a custom character editor for creating new character styles,(example: manuscript.cc-which is included with C.C.WRITER), and for creating GAME (etc) elements.

Programmed by Prisoner / Cross. Char Constructor is a 1x2 character editor with support for drives 8 & 9. Some basic info on the program is built into the intro.

Looks like a very nice editor but there was little information I could glean from it. The one annoying thing is that it plays music the while time you edit.

Written by Tom Dively (Starman) - Character maker is one of the best looking, well designed character set maker I have seen. This is a must have! Docs on disk.

Chareditor v1.1 released by NoName - Nice editor with built in help and joystick support.  Some funky background music even ;)

Presented by Quarksoft, Chases is short for "Charset Saver" This is a small tool written by Quark of the Star Frontiers to hunt in the system memory for character set data and save it.

Released May 20th, 1989 by Dynastar of FCC. Pretty cool util to rip character sets from RAM. Lets you pick common locations or search memory manually. Docs are on disk.

Font Editor II by Perry Miller - Pretty neat font editor that supports keyboard, joystick and mouse for input.  Full of features and pretty easy to use.  Also includes over a dozen fonts on the disk to check out.

By Ceullux/Faces - Really clean and simple font / character editor with a clean interface and built-in help.

Font Magic v1.2 [Font Designer?] - Released March 15th, 1988 by Dream Runner.  Nice joystick controlled font creator with some added features like copy, move, flip and rotate.

Written by JHG. Fonted is a straight forward font editor without all the useless gui frills. There aren't any docs with it, but the interface is straight forward and easy to use.

Written by Henry of Centauri. I wasn't really sure what category to put this program into, so I guessed and picked Font Editors. This program will let you edit and convert a font into a hi-res logo and vice versa.

Mega Font v1.0 by Megatonn/Bronx is a utility that can put 27 sprites into a normal sprite set.  Instructions are built into the program.  NOTE:  This program is written for a PAL C64.

Released in 1988 by Shape. This is a nice fond editor. It supports sizes from 1x1 to 2x4 (and 3x3) and almost everything in between.

Noluxe Character Editor by Flossoftware (1987) also comes with Noluxe Auto-Character editor.  The main program seems to be a normal character editor and the Auto-Character appears to be something that converts the characters into a "NOLUXE Character Set".

Written by David Orr, Pro Character Draw version 2 is a really nice C/G editor with a lot of features.

The Character Master programmed by Benoit Descy & Wim Taymans and released by Gizmo is a tool for creating really big fonts/characters.  You can do 1x2, 2x1, 2x2 and 3x3 size sets.  This was aparently created for the 'Magic Disk'.  I found this on a utility disk #1 by Chrome.

By Beatless and Captain Rock - This 3x3 character editor can handle both hires and multicolor fonts.

Ultrafont+ v.2 is a nice 1x1 character set creator.  Lots of nice features like mirror and rotate and completely controlled by the keyboard.

Compute!s book "The Complete 64" has a really nice chapter on this editor.
