Disc Scrambler by S.T. Burke (typed in and uploaded to archive.org by Joseph Gordon) is a utility that can scramble the data on a disk using a two letter code as the key. You can scramble a full disk, or just a single track or sector (block). You can also reverse this process to un-scramble the disk. This program can be found in the August 1989 issue of Your Commodore. If you'd like to see a video of the program in action, you can find that here on Youtube. |

Enigmuh Cipher by Joseph Gordon (2020-2022) - The Enigmuh Cipher Code Generator is a way to transmit secret messages to friends. Although modeled after the German Enigma machines, it is just a simple coding method. When starting the program, you will be asked for three wheel codes ranging from A-Z and 0-9. Next, you will be asked if you want to encrypt or decrypt a message. After answering the questions, the C64 will draw the machine and you can begin typing when the blue light in the upper right comes on. You may hear a buzzer and see a red light in the upper right corner when encrypting a message if you try to type a character not shown on the Enigmuh machine’s screen. The characters on the screen will briefly illuminate and the wheels in the upper left corner will advance when a key is pressed just like on the real Enigma. The Enigmuh has a 240 character limit and you can take a screenshot of the encrypted text and send it to your friends or post it to social media. There are three versions of the program in this archive; the original which doesn't include the plugin board, v2.0 that has the plugin board and version 2.1 that is compiled and has a bit more instruction text. You can check out a video of the original here and a video of version 2.0 here. |
