Arcade Game Assembler

ArcheType by Mark Jordan is an 80 column word processor for the Commodore 128.  Originally released in the 1986 May/June issue of Commodore Microcomputers. ArcheType was also released on Loadstar issue #25 (1986).  Included in the archive is a nice review of the program that you can pull up in ArcheType to read.  In the June/July 1986 issue of Commore PowerPlay magazine, there is a type in listing for some enhancements to ArcheType.

Archon - The Light and The Dark by Aleksi Eeben (May/June 2021) - This is an absolutely amazing conversion of the famous Commodore 64 chess-like game originally by Anne Westfall, Jon Freeman and Paull Reiche III released in 1983 for the unexpanded VIC20.  Inside the archive are versions on .tap and .d64 and a very important acknowledgement PDF with additional details on the conversion.

As noted in the acknowledgement document, the official release can be obtained HERE along with many additional things, such as the source code and more screenshots.

This is a (supposedly) improved version of Arkive 2.0 released by TNS. Supposedly it adds support for Dolphin DOS, Speed DOS and more.

ARM2SID is a new replacement for 2 Commodore SID music chips and more. ARM2SID is a bigger brother of our well known ARMSID, which is a real "plug & play" solution and fully replaces both the MOS6581 and MOS8580 chips.
ARM2SID comes whenever 2 SID chips are needed, usually for stereo. If you have 2 SID sockets, just place the ARM2SID in the primary socket, SID2 in the secondary socket, connect both of them with the provided 5 or 10 cm cable, configure with the provided C64/C128 utility and go.
If you have just one socket and are not afraid of soldering, you can get even more. Use the provided connector cable, connect the 6 wires to your C64/C128 and you get the 2nd SID for stereo, the 3rd SID for 3SID music and OPL FM synthesis compatible with FM Sound Expander!

ARMSID Firmware Update v2.9 - Included in the archive is both the normal firmware update program and also the blind write version.  Also in the archive is the test and configuration tool v2.0 for the ARMSID.

ARMSID is a new replacement of the famous Commodore SID music chip used in the Commodore C64, C128 and more computers.

1993 by Alan Group. I'm not exactly sure if this should be categorized as a converter, but from what I can figure you can use this program to cut things from graphics images or charsets.

This is by far one of the best hi-res paint programs I have run across. The 1351 mouse control makes this program easy to use and there are a ton of features including custom fonts and printing.

Art Sudio v1.1 (1986)(PAL+NTSC) by Chris Saunders & James Hutchby - One of the great hi-res graphics editors for the Commodore 64.

Art Writer - Imported by The Survivors on 7/6/1988.  This is one of the nicer noters I've tried.  It seems pretty polished.

As I've said in the past, games aren't typically my thing so I don't post them very often, but this one is exceptional and deserves to be shared.  Based on the original 1983 release, Artillery Duel Deluxe is a turn based strategy game with some really cool features:

- 1-player mode
- 2-player online mode incl. message function (with WiC64 or kernal64 emulator)
- online spectator (live and replay function) (with WiC64 or kernal64 emulator)
- online ranking (with WiC64 or kernal64 emulator)
- ingame manual
- PAL/NTSC (speed) adapted
- optimized use of joysticks in port 1 and 2 + protopad support
- acceleration resp. abort possibilities of different processes for a more comfortable gameplay
- countless smaller optical and technical adjustments and optimizations

AS2 is a multi-pass assembler for the Commodore 64. This particular assembler works ONLY with a 1541 or MSD-2 drive. Full docs are on the disk.

ASCII Conversion 64 by Bob Kober - Can never have too many ways to convert a file from <> to ASCII or PETSCII.  This one will also strip carriage returns if you want it to.

Written by Bob Underdown. This program will take an ascii printer dump file and convert it to a doodle picture file. The program works off of the density of each letter to give differant matrix effects.

ASCII Printer Driver by David Durran (Dated 10/17/1988) - If you have a printer you can't find a driver for, and none of the other compaitibility modes of the printer work with a different brand driver such as Epson or IBM, then this is you last hope.  This driver basically just spits text characters at the printer in hopes of putting your words on the page!

I'm not exactly sure what this utility does, but according to the intro screen it lets you add a scroller to the end of your log-on screen. So you BBS people should check this out and give me the low down.

ASSEMBLER 64 is a two-pass 6510 or 6502 assembler for the Commodore 64. It's written entirely in machine language and occupies 8K bytes of RAM. It allows free-form input using the builtin BASIC editor, produces complete assembly listings, loadable symbol tables, various options for storing created object codes, redefinable symbols, and a comprehensive set of pseudo-ops (assembler directives) for such things as creating macros or conditional assembly. The syntax for the most part adheres to the MOS standard.
