zip1 Amiga Basic

Whatever your reason for using BASIC, you will find that Amiga Basic gives you all the well-known advantages of BASIC, plus the ease of use and fun you expect from Amiga tools. Amiga Basic puts the full BASIC language on your Amiga computer, including BASIC statements used to write graphics, animation, and sound programs. Also, it has all the familiar features of the Amiga screen. Amiga Basic has a Menu Bar, a Pointer, and windows and screens, just like other Amiga tools have.

If you are just starting to learn BASIC, either in a class or on your own, Amiga Basic will fit right in with your course of study. Amiga Basic is based on Microsoft BASICthe most popular programming language in the world, which works on every major microcomputer. If you are an old hand at BASIC programming, you'll want to try some of the special features of this version of BASIC, such as SOUND and WAVE for making music and sounds, and GET and PUT for saving and retrieving graphics by the screenful.

pdf3 Amiga Comal

AmigaCOMAL is an implementation of the programming language COMAL80 for the Commodore Amiga computer. COMAL80 (COMAL for short) has become an old and well established language. The first versions were made in the early 1970’s. At that time programming (in BASIC) was being taught to primary school teachers at the Tender State Teacher’ College, Denmark.

Borge Christensen, at that time teacher at the college, realized that the students wrote poor programs and that the main reason was the language BASIC. BASIC was indeed easy to use and it offered the user much help during program writing but in BASIC you do not have the possibility to use long and descriptive variable names and you do not have the elegant program structures known from Pascal.

Borge Christensen talked to Benedict Lofstedt, teacher at the University of Aarhus, Denmark about the problems and they agreed that it should be possible to combine the best of BASIC and Pascal. The result was the programming language COMAL (COMmon Algorithmic Language).

Together with some students, Borge made the first implementation of the language in 1974. With the introduction of the micro computers in the late seventies more implementations were made. In 1979 the COMAL standard was defined (COMAL80 Kemal) by a number of computer manufactures and some educational institutions.

AmigaCOMAL contains some minor differences the COMAL80 kemal. The difi'erences are those introduced by UniComal in their implementations of COMAL80 on the IBM PC computer (now included in the Common COMAL standard).

zip4 Amiga Disk Encoding Schemes

Amiga Disk Encoding Schemes by Betty Clay

Disk drives are fascinating things. When they work properly, they manage data and software so beautifully that there is little need to think about the way in which they do it. When something goes wrong though, the loss is (or can be) so great that the inner workings of the drive become of utmost importance.

zip7 Amiga Game Guide Vol. 02

Welcome to Volume Two of my complete low down of Amiga games. This covers the letter B, and there is a lot of games beginning with that letter!! But also what classic games there are, with some of my all time favourite games to be found here.

I am still having a blast putting together this, ridiculously ambitious project, to catalogue and play every Amiga game | can find. | realise of course, there are a number of online sites that have done this already, but I hope that by pooling all that knowledge in one place and making it easy to read on a Tablet or Kindle Fire will be useful to some people, who like me, like to have things to read offline at times.

Anyway | hope you enjoy, the book is totally free and done simply because | am enjoying putting it together and had failed to find any book out there that focussed on the gaming side of the Amiga.

To answer your question : Yes I realise the mammoth, monumental task I have set my self here, and yes to answer your next question, I probably am a bit mad.But I am loving doing this, as I its making me spend time with all those lovely Amiga games of my youth and discovering classic gems, that I never knew existed.

Anyway I hope you enjoy, the book is totally free and done simply because I am enjoying putting it together and had failed to find any book out there that focussed on the gaming side of the Amiga.

zip9 Amiga Hardware Manual

This manual provides information about the Amiga[tm] graphics and audio hardware and about how the Amiga talks to the outside world through peripheral devices. A portion of this manual is a tutorial on writing assembly language programs to directly control the Amiga's graphics and hardware.

This book is intended for the following audiences:

- Assembly language programmers who need a more direct way of interacting with the system than the routines described in the Amiga ROM Kernel A-fanual. You can find information here to help you make your programs run faster or do things that the ROM kernel rou tines don't do.
- Anyone who wants to add new peripherals to the Amiga or just wants to know how the hardware works

zip21 AmigaDOS User's Manual [August 1985]

This manual describes the various AmigaDOS, and its commands. The Command Line Interpreter (CLI) reads AmigaDOS commands typed into a CLI window and translates them into actions performed by the computer. In this sense, the CLI is similar to more "traditional" computer interfaces: you type in commands and the interface displays text in return.

Because the Workbench interface is sufficient and friendly for most users the Workbench diskettes are shipped with the CLI interface "disabled". To use the commands in this manual you must "enable" the CLI interface. This puts a new icon, labeled "cli" on your Workbench. When you have selected and opened this icon, a CLI window becomes available, and you can use it to issue text commands directly to AmigaDOS.

Arc to SDA v4.5 by Mark Rhodes (November 1987) - This handy utility will convert a collection of files compressed with Arc into a self-dissolving file.  The program goes much farther than converting .arc to .sda, it can also analyze the block allocation map for all the files on the disk.  The coolest feature I was never aware of is called "whittle".  Using whittle, you won't run into a situation where you give someone with a single disk drive a file so big it can't be uncompressed because there isn't room for both the compressed file and it's contents on a single floppy. Included in the archive is documentation describing many of the other features.

Note - there is a newer version of this program available here (v5.1).
