Karate Champ (2-Player) on the Commodore 64 is the head-to-head variant of the arcade-style karate sim, focused entirely on versus play between two human fighters: white gi vs red gi. Just like the original, there’s no energy bar—points are awarded for clean, well-timed strikes, with the match decided by who reaches the required score first under the judge’s watchful flags. Using only a joystick and the fire button, both players access a surprisingly wide range of techniques—high and low kicks, punches, back-steps, jump attacks—so the game becomes about spacing, anticipation, and timing rather than button mashing. It’s essentially the pure “duel” core of Karate Champ packaged as a dedicated two-player contest for couch competition on the C64.
