Mineshaft Gap on the Commodore 64 is a modern real-time strategy game where you manage up to 32 tiny bunker dwellers trying to build a “better (less radioactive)” future after nuclear war, riffing on the Dr. Strangelove line about not allowing a mineshaft gap. You juggle multiple underground shelters on a scrolling map, assigning residents to collect resources, expand tunnels, construct facilities, and raise families while also dealing with rival factions who might outbuild or outbreed you. Each inhabitant acts semi-independently once given orders, so the challenge is in planning priorities and layouts rather than micromanaging every move, turning it into a quirky, C64-flavored take on post-apocalyptic base-building and population management.
