Demon Stalkers: The Raid on Doomfane on the Commodore 64 is a top-down, Gauntlet-style action-RPG where one or two players descend through a 100-level dungeon to hunt down the demon Calvrak. You play as either a dagger-throwing boy or crossbow-wielding girl, blasting endless monsters while collecting keys, relics, and magic scrolls that boost your stats, give temporary powers, and drip-feed the story of a previous doomed adventuring party. Most floors mix frantic combat with light puzzle elements and clue-hunting, and the game even includes a surprisingly powerful level editor that lets you redesign almost every stage and rewrite scroll texts, effectively turning it into a customizable dungeon crawl as well as a long, challenging campaign.
