Mindshadow on the Commodore 64 is a graphic text adventure where you awaken with amnesia on a deserted island and must slowly rediscover who you are and why someone is trying to erase you. Starting on a lonely beach and hut, you solve traditional adventure-style puzzles to build a signal fire, get picked up by a passing ship, and eventually find yourself in London and then Luxembourg, following a trail of notes, newspapers, and suspicious “accidents” that hint at a larger conspiracy. Play is driven by typed commands, but a key twist is the special REMEMBER verb, which lets you lock important names and clues into your character’s mind so they can be recalled at the story’s climax, when you finally confront your nemesis and reclaim your identity as wealthy industrialist William Arcman, whose evil twin tried to kill you and steal your life.
