Rad Warrior on the Commodore 64 (the North American title for The Sacred Armour of Antiriad) is a post-apocalyptic action-adventure where you control Tal, a loincloth-clad rebel sent to recover a legendary anti-radiation battlesuit and use it to overthrow alien overlords occupying Earth. Starting out almost defenseless, you explore a large, scrolling maze of caverns and ruined technology, dodging and pelting enemies with rocks until you locate the ancient armour. Once inside the suit, the game opens up into more of a proto-Metroidvania: you scour the environment for add-ons like anti-gravity boots and weapon upgrades that let you fly, shoot energy blasts, and eventually penetrate the aliens’ volcanic base to destroy it, blending platforming, light puzzle-solving, and non-linear exploration.
