Alcazar: The Forgotten Fortress on the Commodore 64 is a top-down action-adventure where you’re an explorer crossing a randomly generated countryside of interconnected castles to reach the final stronghold, Alcazar, and reclaim a stolen crown. You start on an overworld map showing 20-plus fortresses linked by roads, choose your route, then enter each castle to tackle one-screen rooms filled with monsters, traps, bottomless pits, and locked doors. Inside, you move in eight directions, grabbing items like pistols, extra lives, and hooks for crossing gaps while watching your limited health and planning safe paths to each exit.
