Airborne Ranger on the Commodore 64 is a tactical action-simulation from MicroProse where you control a lone U.S. Army Ranger dropped by V-22-style aircraft behind enemy lines to carry out dangerous missions like sabotaging ammo dumps, destroying SAM sites, stealing codebooks, or rescuing POWs. Before each operation you read a briefing, kit out three supply pods with ammo, explosives, first-aid and rockets, then fly over the target zone to drop them before parachuting in yourself. On the ground you move vertically up the scrolling battlefield, crawling through trenches and minefields, dodging bunkers and patrols, and carefully conserving limited ammo by periodically reaching the supply drops, then must reach an extraction point within a time limit once the objective is complete.
