Gothik is a 1988 Commodore 64 action-adventure game developed by Firebird Software, heavily inspired by the arcade classic Gauntlet, where players control a lone young warrior navigating the treacherous four towers of an evil lord's massive castle to thwart a dark ritual. The story revolves around defeating the malevolent lord who has dismembered the ancient druid Hasrinaxx into six body parts, each guarded by a powerful demon, and hidden them away; the hero's quest involves collecting these parts, reuniting them with the druid's robe, and ultimately banishing the lord to prevent his resurrection. As a gauntlet-style shoot 'em up, gameplay emphasizes exploration through labyrinthine levels filled with enemies, power-ups that can reverse controls or enhance abilities, and increasing difficulty with push-scrolling mechanics.
