The Maverick v4 on the Commodore 64 is a later, more comprehensive release of the Maverick disk copy/utility package from Central Point/Knacker Jax, aimed at backing up and manipulating both normal and heavily copy-protected 1541 disks. Building on earlier versions, it includes multiple fast copiers and advanced “nibbler” routines, an updated library of parameter files for specific commercial games and applications, plus disk/sector editors, format and verify tools, and compare/diagnostic functions for hunting bad blocks or warped protections. In practice it served as an all-in-one “power user” disk lab for C64 owners, combining everyday copying and maintenance with specialized tools to tackle many of the era’s trickier commercial protections.
