Ultimate 64 Firmware v1.06 Category: ultimate 64Mar-07-2019

Ultimate 64 firmware v1.06:

  • SpeedDOS Parallel Cable (needs e.g. DolpinDOS roms)
  • Interface type: Ultimate Menu picture overlay (HDMI-only)
  • USB keyboard support. Like earlier firmware, press scroll/lock to enter/exit the Ultimate menu.
  • Replacement of Charrom and BAISC

Note for the Ultimate 64:
You will need a kernel, basic and character rom after the upgrade. These roms are not included in the update. These roms are distributed with vice-emu, but you can also find them on zimmermans.net.

For instance, you could use these roms: 901225-01.bin (char), 901226.bin (basic) and 901227-03.bin (kernal). Roms with the .rom extension should also work.

Microsoft Multiplan v1.07 Category: SpreadsheetsFeb-22-2019

Microsoft Multiplan v1.07 for both the Commodore 64 and Commodore 128.  I got this to work in VICE 2.4 on both, but only in 40 column mode on the C128 emulation.  Probably works fine in 80 Column on a real C128.

    • LAX $AB is stable with constant 00.
  • U64 settings are now restored when the machine resets. This resets the SID settings after using Auto Config + internal SID player.

geoTelnet v1.3 Category: GEOS UtilitiesFeb-17-2019

geoTelnet v1.3 by Bo Zimmerman - a full featured TELNET client for 40-column GEOS, Wheels, etc. The client supports the important TELNET codes directly, allowing you to remotely log into systems that support it and issue commands. It supports a standard ASCII terminal, but also supports ANSI fully enough to use complex applications remotely, such as VI, LYNX, TOP, and others. The client has auto-echo and buffering features for users with a free Ram Expansion bank. All this in a simulated 80 column screen, with "close enough" color matching to make it usable.

Preboot 128 v1.4 Category: Disk MenusFeb-17-2019

Preboot v1.4 by Brian Green (2016-2017) of the Particles BBS fame (http://www.particles.org) - This is a really cool boot loader for the Commodore 128 that works in conjunction with a CMD HD (or clone) and / or a RAMLink.  With this utility, you can choose which partition you boot from.  Here are some words from the author himself:

Preboot (currently at version 1.4) is an auto-boot menuing system I’ve created for the Commodore 128 in 80-column mode out of necessity. I own a CMD-HD (and clones) and when I turn on the 128, it boots whatever my default partition is – normally Wheels 128, or GEOS, or something else. If I don’t feel like booting into one of those systems, I have to RUN/STOP-RESTORE it before it boots too far. This is where the name Preboot comes in.
